Learn how to do topiary on March 8

2026-03-02 0 By Editor

We wanted to let everyone know about our next special gardening workshop in Wray Crescent Park, which takes place on March 8 from 12, noon.

Learn how to shape your plants

This week’s session will be focused on topiary – the art of cutting shrubs and bushes into interesting shapes. Professional horticulturalist and trainer, Robert Bradshaw, will talk to us to explain how to approach a topiary project. That means he’ll talk about how to plan a project, how to maintain it, and how to prune plants into shape.

He will work on one of the shrubs in Simi’s garden to show us how it is done. He’s a brilliant trainer and this should be of interest to anyone who has wanted to do something like this themselves.

Spring planting session for Simi

We will also be putting additional plants in the ground in Simi’s Bee Garden.

We’d like to make the event really special, so if you decide to join us, please bring food and snacks to share with everyone. We’ll be providing a little food to start things off.

As usual with our events, the session is completely free, but if you want to support our work you can donate right here.

Please bring gardening gloves if you have them.

The event will run from 12 noon.

Festivals Planning

In other news, we are hard at work planning the next two festivals in Wray Crescent, including the Big Buzz on May 23 and the Summer Festival on July 25.

Please join us for our first public festival planning meeting on Wednesday March 11 on Zoom at 6pm. (Pre-registration via Eventbrite).

Watch out for our event poster around the park!

The poster will appear this week.
