Orchard advice to download right here
Thanks to the Orchard Project we now have three short guides to share with anyone who wants to take better care of their fruit trees. The guides explain good practise when pruning young trees, what to think about when planting new trees (and what to do to help them settle in), with a useful seasonal care diary to help you make sure you stay on top of things.
What is the Orchard Project?
We’ve been working with the Orchard Project for the last couple of months to improve the orchard space in the park. So far we’ve learned good tips to help when pruning trees, performed what we hope is life-saving surgery on one tree that had been heavily damaged by unknown people taking its fruit, and built mulch pits around those trees to help them get through winter and thrive in spring!
Lizzie from the Orchard Project really knows her stuff and will be thrilled to answer your questions and explain more about the value of urban orchards, just turn up at one of the sessions.
We have two more sessions this side of winter, with two to follow in 2025, one in January and another in February. Please join us. We’ve popped the next workshop dates below, and links to the downloadable worksheets are just beneath those.
The next Orchard Project sessions take place on:
- September 28.
- January (TBC).
- February (TBC).
All sessions take place between noon and 2pm.
The event previously scheduled October 5 is cancelled.
