Early Park closure 8, 9, 10 July
We’ve received a warning from the council that the activity space and children’s playground will be closed and locked overnight this weekend. This is because someone has planned an unauthorised music event for the park, in connection we think with Wireless Festival — so moan at them!
Here’s the notice FYI:
“Dear Park User
The Council and the police have been made aware of unauthorised music event being advertised to be held in Wray Crescent Open Space.
This event does not have the permission of the Council and we are working with the police to ensure that it does not take place.
To help us managed the situation, we will unfortunately need to lock the gates to the activity field and playground at 6pm on the 8th, 9th, and 10th July. They will be opened by 7:30am in the morning.
We appreciate that this impact those wishing to use park and we apologise for this. We hope this measure plus the presence of police will ensure that this event does not take place and any potential disruption is minimised.
If you witness any issues, please report them to our Anti-social Behaviour Hotline on 020 7527 7272 or the police.”
NB: We continue to run our free/donations yoga and Tai-chi sessions in the park at 6:30pm Thursdays and Fridays, please join us!
It is absolutely far from clear that they *need* to lock the park but very clear to do so is an outrageous infringement on the rights of the blameless majority – most of all, children. So let’s all head down there at 5:30pm tomorrow and ensure the playground stays open.
