Free ‘Grow Veg’ workshops for kids
In homage to the life’s work of the community garden’s inspiration, local resident and teacher, Yvonne Conolly OBE, the Friends of Wray Crescent is proud to announce the Children’s ‘Grow Veg’ Workshop, a series of summer educational workshops for young people aged six to twelve years of age, starting May 10.
What the workshops will teach
The free sessions will introduce children to planting vegetables and teach the basic techniques of how to care for them. Over the course of sessions vegetables will become ready for picking and our young students will be able to harvest them to take home!
The Friends of Wray Crescent hope to encourage young people to take a wider interest in vegetable and gardening activities!
When do the workshops run?
The ‘Grow Veg’ workshop sessions do not run on consecutive weeks but are timed to coincide with key plant care events. They begin at 10:30 pm and end at 11:30am.
Who is running these workshops?
The programme is a partnership coordinated between London Borough of Islington (LBI) and The Friends of Wray Crescent Open Space. Young people will be guided by our own volunteer and workshop leader Sacha Austin and Korey Bryson (LBI).
How much will these workshops cost?
The sessions are absolutely free, though we would welcome donations to assist our work in the park.
