Celebrate Bees at the Big Buzz party, May 24
We’ll be holding our annual Big Buzz event celebrating World Bee Day on May 24 – that’s this coming Saturday. The party begins at 12 noon and ends at 4pm.
What to expect
The big attraction is a kid’s magic show at 2:30pm, with Nutty Magic Ravioli. His shows are great fun and very lively from start to finish – your kids will have a great time, so don’t miss it.
Esther from the Queen Bees podcast will also be at the event. She’ll talk about bees and is bringing her model beehive to help kids (and adults) understand the secret lives of these vital pollinators.
We’ll also have fantastic food from Pickle Pockle and People’s Army. There’ll be a flower stall from the excellent Bluebell and Flo, our very own locally-sourced honey, you’ll be able to pot a plant to take home with you for nothing.
The slightly expanded Wray Crescent History Exhibition will be there, we’ll have some music – and if you’d like to play (acoustically) for the crowd please get in contact, as we’d love to give you the opportunity to do so.
Finally, we’re inviting people to host blanket stalls at the event. These were very successful at the much bigger festival we held in July, so if you want to rock up to sell some stuff and meet the neighbours, please make contact. We will ask for a contribution toward event costs.
Wray Crescent Summer Festival – July 26
Speaking of the summer event, this much larger party takes place on July 26.
We’re booking this now, so if you’re a performer, musician, stall holder, or just want to get involved in the festival please make contact. We hope to share more details of what’s to come with you at the Big Buzz.
And for those who have signed their kids up for it, just a reminder that the kid’s vegetable gardening workshop also takes place the same day, starting at 10:30am. You can make a full day out on Saturday, all in your local manor!
Finally, everything we do is done by volunteers, no one gets paid for what we do, but there are costs to our work so we’re always very grateful for any donations. Please help our work by making a donation. Thank you.
The Big Buzz begins at 12 noon and ends at 4pm.
Ho there, thanks to all organising, we are looking forward to tomorrow! I have lots of spare plant pots and can bring them tomorrow if they’d be useful for the flower stall?
