Hi everyone!

We wanted to let you know that Islington’s parks team are back in Wray Crescent this weekend on Saturday, April 13 to give you free plants, part of the regular, Islington-wide Pot A Plant to Take Home series of park visits.

What is Pot A Plant to Take Home?

Each year, Islington’s lovely parks team shows up in parks across the borough with a collection of little plants to give to local residents.

This is a 3-step process and it works like this:

  • Islington’s park people turn up with lots of plants.
  • You have a chat and they help you pop the plant in a pot.
  • And you (or your kids) get to take the baby plant home, nurture it, and watch it grow.

All tools and materials will be provided, and you’ll get to meet Islington’s lovely Community Parks team.

The Pot A Plant event takes place in the Yvonne Conolly Garden near the Thorpedale Road entrance to Wray Crescent Park on Saturday, April 13, between 12-2pm.

Around 70 people wanted to learn more about our local history

But wait, there’s more…

We also wanted to let you know about another upcoming event:

The hugely popular Wray Crescent History Walk is coming back to us in summer this time, with a walk on Saturday, May 4 at 11am. You can book your attendance here, and it’s also fine to turn up on the day.

These have been such interesting events and the many people who have attended them over the last two years seem to have come away stoked at what they learn about the local area.

These events are free, and we hope everyone can show up to learn more about our local manor.

Moving on, we also have a wave of other events to let you know about, including a fantastic guided tree walk in June, the return of the Big Buzz festival on May 18 (a great event for kids and bees, with food, music and more) and we continue working toward the Wray Crescent festival in July. (We need lots of help with this so please do get involved).

There’s lots more we wanted to share with you, but please take a note of the above dates in your diaries!

If you want to be kept updated on our work on an incredibly intermittent basis, please join our mailing list. If you want to support what we do (we are all volunteers), every penny you may choose to donate goes to what we do to make our park the community hub any open green space should be!
